Boat trip!

On 15th September 2007, an intrepid band of travellers arrived in Reading. Their task, should they choose to accept it, was to undertake a boat trip along the Thames to Henley. That's Henley-on-Thames, the clue's in the name. The intrepid group comprised me, my parents, ny sister and her boyfriend. The trip was a surprise for my Mum's birthday. I won't give away her age, but to allow you to make a guess, she is older than 21 and not as old as 100.

A very pleasant day followed - the weather was amazingly sunny and warm for the time of year. The journey took just over 2 and a half hours each way, with a bit of time spent at the four locks on the voyage, waiting for boats to come in the opposite direction and for the water levels to change. The scenery was pleasant enough, we saw some multi-million pound mansions and gardens along the banks, and there were some interesting birds. Like herons, grebes and swans - that kind of bird.

We stopped for a nice lunch in Henley town centre, then wandered around in the blazing sunshine, before catching our boat back clutching our Mr Whippy 99 flake ice creams as we embarked.

When back in Reading, we went to a lovely restaurant with river views - the theme of the day! The meal was fine, although I suddenly came up in blotchy spots, or were they spotty blotches?! Anyway, I won't be eating prawns for a while. Strange, as I've never had a problem with them before, in the limited number of times I've had them...!

All in all, it was a great day. Especially as the weather was so perfect!

Was it her 22nd birthday then?

You know, "Mr whippy 99s" should probably be called "Mr Whippy 150s" these days!

Sadly there were no comedy moments. Sorry for the factualness of the account. More like Mr Whippy 249 I seem to recall.
