St Kilda's

Miserable Melbourne had one last surprise for us before we left - a rare pleasant day! We took the opportunity to head down to the beach at St Kilda’s. Unfortunately so had the 80,000 people who would have been at the MCG that day, which meant that the seldom seen Melburnian sunshine was reflecting off the pasty white English bodies of a number of cricket fans and dazzling us.

We wandered along the Esplanade and saw the tacky delights of Luna Park, before heading back to the city.

I’ve been a bit unfair on Melbourne in this blog - we did have some unusual weather for the time of year, but otherwise Melbourne was a perfectly nice, if unspectacular, city. And it probably still is…
